Jordan Peterson on Collectivism

Jordan Peterson is a Canadian clinical psychologist and professor of psychology at the University of Toronto. On September 27, 2016, he did the following: [This comes from his Wikipedia page]

"Peterson released the first installment of a three-part lecture video series, entitled "Professor against political correctness: Part I: Fear and the Law". In the video, he stated he would not use the preferred gender pronouns of students and faculty, and announced his objection to the Canadian government's Bill C-16, which proposed to add "gender identity or expression" as a prohibited ground of discrimination under the Canadian Human Rights Act, as well to the list of identifiable groups whom it is illegal under the Criminal Code to promote genocide or publicly incite hatred
against."

C-16 passed in the House of Commons and the Senate, and became law upon receiving Royal Assent on June 19, 2017.

The following comes from a recent blog post on a website called, The Epoch Times.

Collectivist regimes under communism, fascism, and socialism make the individual’s rights
secondary to the goals of a political system—the opposite of free societies,  where the system acts to guard the rights of the individual. Collectivism holds that the individual should serve
the interests of the state, and that any who oppose the interest of the collective should be
     ostracized or eliminated.

To see the effects of collectivism, we need only look at the histories of those who decided the direction of the collective, and what happened to those who refused to follow the collective interest. Under most regimes—from Vladimir Lenin, to Adolf  Hitler, to Josef Stalin, to Mao Zedong—it led to dictatorship and crimes against humanity.

Notice that Collectivists include BOTH the Left and the Right. Collectivism needs both of them to be effective. Where one side is dominant, the other side will become fertile and begin to grow.
